In a February 8, 2016 article, the National Law Journal interviewed Venable Co-Managing Partner Lindsay Meyer on the firm's strong 2015. Last year, Venable saw revenue increase by 7.9% marking the third consecutive year the firm outperformed the legal industry average. Revenue per attorney was up 2% and profits per partner jumped to over $1 million. "I think we're in the club," said Meyer commenting on the new milestone. The firm also increased its overall headcount with the addition of 32 attorneys last year.
Meyer said the firm saw across the board revenue growth in all four of the firm's divisions – business, government, litigation, and intellectual property. "We've had three really strong years, so for us it reaffirms continuing to do what we do, in serving clients and diversifying our portfolio." Meyer also pointed to growth in San Francisco where the firm recently moved to a new office and the launch of a new state attorney general practice.
For 2016 Meyer predicted a steady and "cautiously optimistic" approach to growth. "People ask if 2016 will bring an international office to Venable. Probably not," she said. "We're opportunistic, but we're also careful. We look for the right business fit. We're not a firm that will have an office in every city.
