Douglas Siegler and Leading Wealth Management Team Joins Venable's Washington, DC Office

Joining one of the nation's premier private client groups, the three-member group brings broad experience in representing individuals and families in estate planning, tax, charitable giving, and other wealth matters


Washington, DC – March 23, 2016 – Venable LLP announced that it has added a new team to its nationally renowned wealth management practice: prominent private wealth and tax lawyer Douglas Siegler, who joins the firm as a partner in Washington, DC; counsel Carolyn P. Vinson; and associate Emily A. Plocki. Mr. Siegler and his team arrive from the firm of Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP.

An American College of Trust and Estate Counsel Fellow, Mr. Siegler represents individuals and families in sophisticated estate planning and administration and multigenerational transfers of wealth, including income, estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax planning. He advises clients on wills, trust agreements, insurance, and charitable giving programs, as well as tax and business succession planning advice to owners of closely held businesses. Mr. Siegler frequently handles transfer tax planning for clients married to non-U.S. citizens and people living outside the United States.

Mr. Siegler has been widely recognized for his work in the private wealth sector, with rankings in Chambers USA; Best Lawyers, Euromoney's Guide, Washingtonian, and Super Lawyers.

Ms. Plocki assists high-net-worth individuals and owners of family entities with multigenerational tax planning strategies and wealth preservation, including lifetime, estate, charities, and business succession planning.

Mr. Siegler received his J.D. from Duke University School of Law and his B.A. from Princeton University. Ms. Vinson received her J.D. from the George Washington University Law School and her B.A. from Trinity College. Ms. Plocki received her LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center, her J.D. from University of Toledo College of Law, and her B.A. from Kenyon College.
