Venable partner Chuck Morton was quoted in the August 11, 2016 issue of the Baltimore Business Journal. The article, "Why some area companies are saying 'no' to the IPO," explained that companies are tapping into the private equity and venture capital markets instead of going public. Despite the slowdown, Morton commented that there are still plenty of deals being generated in Maryland. In support of that observation, the article noted that, even with a lack of venture capital, Maryland ranked 12th in number of deals made in the second quarter of this year because of the strength of Maryland's early-stage environment.
