Venable's Managing Director of Cybersecurity Services Ari Schwartz was quoted in a December 5, 2016, Bloomberg BNA article on last week's recommendations by the president's Commission on Enhancing National Cybersecurity. Created earlier this year as part of the president's Cybersecurity National Action Plan, the report provided several recommendations for the incoming Trump administration to improve the nation's cybersecurity.
Schwartz called the commission's report a "menu for the next administration" and "a good first step for the Trump administration in formulating its cybersecurity policies." One recommendation in the report that Schwartz agreed with was the need for the government to update legacy IT systems. "Anyone that has worked with government agencies at any level will understand that legacy systems are problematic," he said adding that securing those systems should be a "priority" for the new administration.
