On November 1, 2018, Michael Sandonato was recognized by the National Law Journal as an Elite Boutique Trailblazer for 2018. Honorees are selected who have made a remarkable difference in their specialized area of law, each has shown a deep passion and perseverance in pursuit of their mission, having achieved remarkable successes along the way.

Following is an excerpt that highlights Michael's professional achievements:

Sandonato's clients include Canon. "I've been lead trial counsel on many cases. One of the most notable was enforcing their very important IP on toner bottle technology, which culminated in a two-week jury trial in the Northern District of Georgia. The result was a jury verdict of willful infringement, returning the exact damages number we requested, and a permanent injunction. It followed five years of litigation, and I’m very proud of the results." He has also appeared before the International Trade Commission frequently on behalf of Canon. "I've brought five separate ITC actions for them and have obtained two general exclusion orders along the way, the ITC's most powerful remedy." Sandonato has also represented Dentsply Sirona and its predecessors for more than 20 years. "My most notable piece of work there involved licensing and enforcing patents on CMOS imaging technology that came out of NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab. My client had the exclusive license in the dental imaging space, and I represented them in a campaign that resulted in many favorable licenses. We sometimes had to litigate, and in one of the cases, after several victories, including a Markman decision overwhelmingly in our favor, a decision striking a key defense and the defendants' failure in their bid to obtain summary judgement, we settled on successful terms."
