Washington, DC (January 17, 2019) – Venable LLP is pleased to announce that Nick Choate has joined the firm as a policy advisor in the Legislative and Government Affairs Practice in the Washington, DC office. Mr. Choate specializes in telecommunications, appropriations, cybersecurity, and technology public policy.
Mr. Choate is a veteran of Capitol Hill who brings years of experience to clients who are seeking to influence policy outcomes in Washington. Before joining Venable, he served as the deputy legislative director for former U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO). In this role, he coordinated policy priorities on behalf of the senator and her work as a member of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, and the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.

Mr. Choate has held several other key congressional staff positions, including legislative director and press secretary. He also served as the director of government relations for a bipartisan Washington, DC government relations firm.
Mr. Choate received his B.A. in Political Science and History from the University of Missouri in 2004.
