On May 8, 2019, following lobbying efforts by Venable LLP on behalf of its pro bono client, Cannonball Kids' cancer Foundation, the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations directed the National Cancer Institute (NCI) to incorporate the deadliest forms of childhood cancer into the recalcitrant cancers category, and to prioritize research on such cancers. The committee also urged the NCI to utilize available resources to aid in the discovery of better treatments and cures to improve overall childhood cancer survival rates.
