On October 20, 2020, Stacie Tobin was featured in the Baltimore Business Journal discussing the diversity and inclusion initiatives Venable has launched as calls for racial justice continue to gain momentum across the country. The following is an excerpt:

Venable launched a series of talks called "Moments and Movements." The firm's attorneys would discuss how moments in time affect the way people engage on issues and what the law firm can do.

"To me it had the benefit of being not anyone lecturing anyone else or getting overtly political about things," Tobin said, "but talking about real experiences and passion for achieving racial justice amongst people we know and care about and respect."

Across the firm, Venable has implemented some programs focused particularly on attorneys and staff. But some of them also include families. For example, the firm hosted a series of virtual reading circles to help children of employees and clients learn more about the diverse history of the U.S.

Venable is also making changes to its leadership related to diversity and inclusion. The firm appointed Nora Garrote, a partner in its Washington, D.C. office, within the last month as partner-in-charge of diversity and inclusion. It's the first time Venable has appointed someone to such a position
