Laura Bouyea, a partner in Venable’s Bankruptcy and Creditors' Rights Practice, was appointed vice-chair of the American Bar Association Real Property, Trust & Estate (RPTE) Section’s Workouts, Foreclosure and Bankruptcy Committee. As the vice-chair, Ms. Bouyea will work with the committee chair to develop committee activities, produce CLE programming at RPTE meetings and eCLE, articles for Section publications, maintain the committee’s website, and host committee conference calls to discuss current legal issues and connect committee members with colleagues sharing similar interests.
Ms. Bouyea focuses on a wide range of bankruptcy matters, commercial litigation, and commercial foreclosures. She is licensed in Maryland and Delaware and appears regularly in state and federal court in those and numerous other jurisdictions. Her accounting background, coupled with her litigation experience, uniquely situates her to handle both litigation and transactional matters. This is invaluable in the restructuring field, where business transactions and litigation frequently intersect. Ms. Bouyea is also a recognized leader in the Baltimore community, regularly lending her problem-solving capabilities and experienced legal counsel to nonprofit organizations and individuals in need.
