Waldman, and Gueter Aurelien have been recognized among The Daily Record’s Leadership in Law honorees. These awards pay tribute to all the ways in which legal professionals are serving businesses, clients, and individuals across Maryland and making our communities stronger.

  • Chuck Morton, a partner and co-chair of Venable's National Corporate Group, was named a Dealmakers honoree. This award recognizes corporate and transactional attorneys who get the deals done.
  • Bryan Rakes, a partner and co-chair of Venable's national Mergers and Acquisitions Practice, was named a Leadership in Law honoree. This award recognizes attorneys and judges who have shown tremendous dedication to the legal profession and selfless, tireless commitment to the community.
  • Bob Waldman, a co-chair of Venable's Business Division and a member of the firm's Tax and Wealth Planning Group, was named a Lifetime Achievement honoree. This award recognizes lawyers whose careers have helped shape the legal landscape in Maryland and who have shown long-standing commitment to the community.
  • Gueter Aurelien, a counsel in Venable’s Corporate Group, was named a Generation J.D. honoree. This award recognizes attorneys who have been admitted to the bar for 10 years or less and demonstrate professional accomplishment, community service, and a strong commitment to the legal profession early in their careers.

Mr. Morton is recognized for his abilities in guiding mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and financing transactions involving middle-market companies. He assists lenders, investors, and entrepreneurs as they create, build, and buy or sell businesses, primarily in the healthcare, technology, and consumer products industries. He regularly acts on behalf of private equity groups and banks.

Mr. Rakes is a pragmatic and experienced business attorney who brings a collaborative approach to corporate matters. He assists clients with complex mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments, licensing transactions, joint ventures, and financing transactions.

Mr. Waldman serves as counsel to foundations, hospitals, educational institutions, trade associations, community foundations, and other charitable entities, and counsels companies on corporate social responsibility matters. He represents some of the country's largest nonprofit organizations and has significant experience in international philanthropy.

Ms. Aurelien’s practice focuses on a broad range of corporate law matters, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, commercial financing, equity investments, securities offerings, commercial contracts, and general business transactions.
