Washington, DC (January 31, 2023) – The Venable Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Venable LLP, is pleased to announce that it awarded a total of $4,288,000 throughout the 2022 grant season. This is a record number of dollars to the Foundation’s largest pool of grantees, with a total of 427 nonprofit organizations receiving funding, including 52 as first-time grantees. The firm’s partnership is committed to impacting the community, and thus attorneys and staff have engaged with 56% of the grantees as board members, volunteers, or supporters.
In addition to its regular cycle of funding, the Foundation’s philanthropic investments provided essential resources to organizations focused on combating homelessness. In September 2022, the Foundation awarded impact grants totaling $480,000 to two nonprofit organizations in each of the firm’s communities, including Baltimore, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Washington, DC. The 2022 grant season also saw the Foundation’s expansion to the Chicago market, providing $80,000 to 11 organizations at the end of the year. These organizations are providing housing and enhanced services to individuals experiencing homelessness.
The Venable Foundation is continually recognized for its positive impact on the communities in which Venable employees live and work. The Foundation once again was recognized as a platinum-level participant in DC Access to Justice's 2021 Raising the Bar Campaign. The platinum level is the campaign's top tier and honors firms that have administered financial support amounting to .11% of DC office revenue to local legal services providers. Additionally, the Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland (PBRC) presented Venable with its Justice Award, citing the firm's team of approximately 15 lawyers who staff two of PBRC's clinics each month and the Venable Foundation's numerous donations.
