The San Francisco Business Times has named Venable LLP to the 2024 Top 100 Bay Area Corporate Philanthropists list, which ranks for-profit companies and nonprofit healthcare organizations by cash contributions made to Bay Area-based charitable organizations. Honorees was recognized at the Corporate Philanthropy Summit and Awards breakfast on July 25.
“Venable is proud of our continued inclusion on this list of the Bay Area’s charitable companies for our commitment to contributing time, talent and resources to charitable organizations in the region,” said Michael W. Bigley, director of the Venable Foundation. “It is inspiring to see so many companies share in the mission of making a difference in their community.”
Both Venable and its philanthropic arm, the Venable Foundation, are dedicated to supporting the communities in which the firm operates. The Venable Foundation, which is celebrating four decades of impact, is one of the oldest law firm foundations in the country and is proudly funded by the partners of Venable LLP. In 2023, the Foundation awarded more than $3.8 million in grants to hundreds of nonprofits across the country, including 18 Bay Area organizations.
“Over the past decade, Venable has become woven ever more deeply into the Bay Area’s local bar and local community through significant client engagements, professional development opportunities, and meaningful involvement with numerous charitable causes,” Jim Nelson, partner-in-charge of Venable's San Francisco office, shared. “It is imperative that our attorneys continue to foster these relationships through service and philanthropy, as we continue to grow in the California legal market and give back to our communities.”
The annual San Francisco Business Times Corporate Philanthropy Summit event celebrates the best in corporate giving while forging important connections between nonprofit and for-profit leaders.
The Venable Foundation supports a wide variety of charitable, civic, and cultural endeavors, as well as public interest law and legal education. Grantees provide a variety of programs for the community, including out-of-school activities, arts education, academic enrichment, homeless services, transitional and supportive housing, access to food, LGBTQ+ services, college access, workforce development, environmental preservation, health-based initiatives, legal services, immigration support, and numerous other programs that address issues affecting low-income individuals and domestic violence survivors.
