Washington, DC (October 30, 2024) – In its second round of gifting this year, the Venable Foundation announced today that it has awarded 123 nonprofits, including eight new Miami-based organizations, more than $1 million in grants to support operations, programming, and other initiatives.
The largest donation of $80,000 was given to the Maryland Food Bank to help combat food insecurity within the state. Specifically, the grant supported general operations and the Lawyers’ Campaign Against Hunger, of which Venable LLP is a founding partner.
Total grants include:
- $415,000 to 46 organizations in Washington, DC
- $291,500 to 20 organizations in Baltimore
- $150,000 to 21 organizations in New York City
- $120,000 to 14 organizations in Los Angeles
- $40,000 to 8 organizations in Miami
- $38,900 to 8 organizations in Chicago
- $27,500 to 6 organizations in San Francisco
“We are proud to fund organizations that are providing communities with much-needed services,” said Michael Bigley, director, Venable Foundation. “We are equally proud to help address key issues such as food insecurity during a season where families and friends traditionally gather to give thanks.”
Grants are given to nonprofits that align with one of the firm’s eight focus areas—arts and culture, education, environment, health, human services, legal services, workforce development, and youth impact—and are located in a city where the firm operates. While grant amounts may vary, the average amount given is $10,000. Starting in May next year, nonprofits in Denver can apply here to receive funding. For a complete list of grantees, click here.
