Venable was recognized by the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) with both the 2024 Top Performer and the 2024 Compass Award designations. This is the firm’s seventh year in a row that it has been recognized as a Top Performer.
The Top Performer designation highlights organizations with the highest levels of engagement with LCLD. The Compass Award highlights members who engage directly with LCLD, nominate both a Fellow and a Pathfinder, and participate in one or more pipeline programs. Earning both designations signals Venable’s commitment to building a more diverse firm and a more inclusive legal profession.
Venable has participated in LCLD since 2013, and its commitment to the organization's programs has grown steadily since. Each year the firm sponsors diverse Venable lawyers who participate in the LCLD Fellows program and the LCLD Pathfinder program, which provide our attorneys with opportunities to build their leadership skills and networks. Venable also hosts in its various offices diverse first-year law students who have been selected as LCLD 1L Scholars after an application and interview process. The 1L Scholars become summer associates with Venable, and most return for a second summer experience as 2Ls and eventually join the firm as first-year associates. Various Venable lawyers also participate in LCLD’s mentoring programs.
LCLD, one of the United States’ leading organizations promoting diversity, is composed of over 400 corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners. These leaders are committed to ensuring that all talent thrives and share the ultimate goal of building a more equitable legal profession.
