She is a skilled attorney with two decades of government and private sector experience counseling clients and litigating across a wide range of issues, including questions of securities and administrative law and government regulation. Most recently, as the SEC’s chief legal officer, Ms. Barbero counseled commissioners and agency leadership on rulemakings and enforcement cases. Prior to joining the SEC, Ms. Barbero served as deputy general counsel for the U.S. House of Representatives and as an appellate attorney in the Civil Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. She has represented clients before every court of appeals and the Supreme Court and has litigated many challenges to agency actions.
