With more than two decades of legal, policy, and public service experience, including as the Deputy Homeland Security advisor at the White House and acting general counsel at the Department of Homeland Security, Ms. Daskal will enhance Venable’s renowned Cybersecurity team and advise clients on complex matters at the intersection of technology, cybersecurity, global privacy law, and national security.

Ms. Daskal brings extensive experience responding to crisis situations, handling some of the nation’s most complex public safety and homeland security challenges, leading diplomatic negotiations, and overseeing strategic litigation decisions. She has significant experience addressing regulatory challenges and compliance risks involving cybersecurity, cross-border digital frameworks, and data privacy. Her insight spans the technical and regulatory landscapes, both domestic and global, and her expertise enables her to effectively support clients in managing crisis situations and navigating complex multijurisdictional issues, including those involving regulation of artificial intelligence, movement of data across borders, response to government requests for data, and international privacy regulations. She will also support clients with litigation strategies, response to government oversight and investigations, breach response, and public policy engagement.
