On June 18, Think Advisor spoke to Kevin Ghassomian for guidance on avoiding conflict and ensuring effective estate planning.
According to the article, Jimmy Buffett’s estate is the subject of a legal battle between his widow, Jane Buffett, and a co-trustee, Richard Mozenter, over mismanagement and lack of financial transparency.
Ghassomian commented on the dispute, saying, “It may have been a reasonable decision at the time, but the recent filing of counter-lawsuits in Florida and California show just how thorny estate planning can be in practice.”
Ghassomian continued, “When it comes to estate planning, especially for families with significant wealth, the stakes couldn’t be higher. It’s not just about avoiding taxes or keeping things private. It’s about keeping the peace,” he said.
