On September 4, Parabilis interviewed Christopher Griesedieck for the 77th episode of their podcast, “Spilling the Tea on GovCon.” In the episode, Griesedieck explained the proposed overhaul to the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), delving into the possible implications of Part 6.
“FAR Part Six is the implementation in the regulations for the Competition in Contracting Act of 1984, CICA, as it’s called in the industry,” he explained. “The basic premise of CICA is that it’s better all around, including for the taxpayer and the government, to have full and open competition in most circumstances when the government is buying goods and services. That is the baseline requirement, but there are exceptions that CICA expressly spells out, where the government can sole source.”
He also discussed what FAR changes could mean for contractors—specifically, businesses—and explored the changing application of the Rule of Two in task orders.
