According to the article, the Supreme Court’s 6–3 decision striking down most of President Trump’s reciprocal tariffs is expected to bring modest but meaningful short-term reductions in certain construction material costs, though existing tariffs on products like lumber, steel, aluminum, and copper remain in place and the administration has signaled it may pursue alternative measures. Industry experts warn that continued policy shifts and uncertainty could stall construction activity and complicate long-term planning.
Echoing those concerns, Roberts emphasized the disruptive effect that shifting tariff policies could have on the industry’s stability. “If these are repealed, and then say three weeks from now, he reimposes them, that would cause more uncertainty in the market,” he said. “I think the market will take a wait-and-see approach.”
