The Daily Record has named Jim Hanks a 2026 Leader in Law. The program celebrates legal professionals who serve businesses, clients, and individuals across Maryland and strengthen their communities through outstanding leadership and service.
Mr. Hanks was selected for the Lifetime Achievement category, which honors attorneys whose careers have helped shape Maryland’s legal landscape and who have demonstrated a long-standing commitment to the community.
Widely regarded as one of Maryland’s leading corporate lawyers, Mr. Hanks has advised clients on Maryland corporation law for decades. He regularly serves as independent counsel to boards of directors and board committees of REITs and other major U.S. corporations. He also acts as an expert witness in connection with significant transactions, stockholder litigation, conflicts of interest matters, and corporate governance issues. In addition, he advises governments on revisions to their corporate and securities laws.
