Allison Day and Mariaelena Gayo-Guitian Appointed to Advisory Board for ABI’s International Latin America Insolvency Symposium

Allison Day and Mariaelena Gayo-Guitian, partners in Venable's Bankruptcy and Creditors' Rights Group in Miami, have been appointed to the Advisory Board for the 2026 International Latin America Insolvency Symposium hosted by the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI). The program's Advisory Board consists of prominent bankruptcy judges and experienced restructuring practitioners from the U.S. and Latin America.

Ms. Day advises clients on a wide range of bankruptcy, business reorganization, and creditors' rights matters. She has extensive experience representing debtors, creditors, creditors' committees, and trustees in Chapter 11 reorganizations and liquidations, as well as parties in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 proceedings, including the former Standing Chapter 13 Trustee for the Southern District of Florida. In addition, Allison regularly counsels assignors, assignees, and creditors in assignments for the benefit of creditors proceedings and represents receivers in state and federal receivership matters.

Ms. Gayo-Guitian focuses her practice on complex commercial bankruptcy, financial restructuring, insolvency matters, business reorganizations, and creditors' rights. She regularly represents Chapter 11 debtors in possession, trustees, and restructuring professionals in large and complex cases throughout Florida. Mariaelena also has significant experience handling adversary proceedings involving bankruptcy claims, fraud claims, professional negligence, and avoidance actions, and she represents trustees, creditors, assignors, and assignees in bankruptcy and state court insolvency proceedings.
