Washington, DC (June 8, 2026) – Venable LLP is pleased to announce that it has been honored by the Washington Business Journal at the 2026 Corporate Philanthropy Awards for charitable giving in the greater Washington area among large companies. The Washington Business Journal recognized 55 companies across large, mid-sized, and small categories for their contributions to the community.

The Venable Foundation, established in 1982, is one of the oldest law firm foundations in the United States and is regularly recognized and ranked as one of the most charitable. In 2025 alone, the Foundation awarded more than $4.1 million in charitable grants to nonprofit organizations across the country. In DC and Northern Virginia, a total of $1.3 million was awarded to 147 grantees, including Bread for the City, Legal Aid DC, True Ground Housing Partners, and DC Central Kitchen. The Foundation is proudly funded by the partners of Venable LLP.
Already in the first half of 2026, the Venable Foundation has awarded $222,500 to 28 organizations in Washington, DC, and Northern Virginia. Additional funding across the Foundation's eight city focus areas will also be awarded in September and December.
The Foundation has awarded more than $28 million in grants in the past 10 years, supporting a wide variety of charitable, civic, and cultural endeavors and serving public interest law needs in communities. Grantees provide a variety of programs for the community, including out-of-school activities, arts education, academic enrichment, homeless services, transitional and supportive housing, access to food, LGBTQ+ services, college access, workforce development, environmental preservation, health-based initiatives, legal services, immigration support, and numerous other programs that address issues affecting low-income individuals and domestic violence survivors.
