Warren Hamel has been recognized by The Daily Record as a 2026 Icon Honors recipient. The award honors Maryland business leaders over the age of 60 who have demonstrated sustained professional success, leadership, community service, and a commitment to mentoring the next generation.
Hamel co-chairs Venable’s Investigations and White Collar Defense Practice. He conducts internal investigations and represents individuals, corporations, and nonprofit organizations in a wide range of white collar and environmental criminal defense and civil enforcement matters. He also advises clients on compliance and internal controls, including information governance, whistleblower issues, FCPA compliance, and Sarbanes-Oxley–related matters. Before joining Venable in 2002, Hamel served as an assistant U.S. attorney for the District of Maryland and as chief of Environmental Crimes and Enforcement for that office.
In addition to his legal practice, Hamel chairs Venable’s Pro Bono Program, through which firm attorneys regularly contribute more than 25,000 hours of pro bono service each year.
The 2026 Icon Honors recipients will be celebrated on December 7, 2026, at The Center Club in Baltimore.
