Associations and nonprofits continue to face an ever-increasing array of legal requirements applicable to their lobbying, political, and general government affairs activities. ASAE will examine the IRS rules relating to entity selection, circumstances under which member contributions must be disclosed, federal and state lobbying disclosure and ethics rules, and the rapidly expanding federal and state restrictions on lobbyists’ activities, including limitations on their contributions and gift giving. Attendees will learn about the ability of associations and other nonprofits to sponsor communications that support or oppose candidates and political issues, as well as the circumstances in which your organization must disclose the identity of members who provide financial support for those communications.
