Every organization needs to prepare for Ebola. What will you do when employees refuse to work with a co-worker who has recently returned from Africa? When employees are quarantined? When employees return from reservist duty in Ebola-stricken countries? Or in the rare circumstance when an employee has Ebola? And how can you prepare for the non-medical harms that Ebola may inflict on your business or organization – when international conferences must be cancelled because of Ebola-related travel restrictions? Or when public hysteria turns to particular products or services and your organization's sales, registrations or other activity plummet? And after the attention of the public and the press turns away from Ebola, what can you learn that will help you prepare for the inevitable next public health issue that will affect your organization?

Venable is pleased to join with the National Association of City and County Health Officials (NACCHO) and Wells Fargo Insurance Services USA, Inc. to address these medical, legal, and risk issues.

During this program, we will discuss:

  • Medical and public health basics: What is Ebola? How is it transmitted, and what are the common misconceptions about transmissibility? What do organizations need to do, and not do, to protect their workplace, their customers, members, and the public? And why will these questions remain important even after Ebola slips out of the headlines?
  • OSHA and employment law considerations confronting all organizations.
  • Insurance available to mitigate Ebola-related risks.
  • Legal issues associated with such insurance coverage.
