The development of 5G technology will be a disruptive game changer for wireless communications and the worldwide economy as a whole. The countries that dominate 5G technology will enjoy major economic benefits resulting from the many new industries that it will enable. This event will explore national security issues that will arise from the way in which the United States employs 5G. Key defense applications include  ubiquitous surveillance, mobile communications, and secure networking. Potential foreign domination of emerging 5G technology by an adversary nation raises serious questions about national security. This event will discuss the defense challenges of 5G including intelligence sharing, security issues and supply chain concerns. This event will convene senior stakeholders involved in the strategic planning of a national 5G rollout, including DoD, DHS and Industry representatives.
