The COVID-19 pandemic and social justice movements caused many schools to reevaluate and reassess their policies and procedures for admissions and enrollment. For example, some schools creatively reimagined their applicant visits to take place on virtual platforms. Schools also reviewed and revised their enrollment contracts with an eye to “lessons learned” from the spring of 2020, and with the goal of setting expectations for the school community. Further still, schools reaffirmed their commitment to increasing diversity in their communities, expanding their recruitment reach. This session will discuss the evolving trends in admissions and enrollment that occurred over the course of 2020, focusing on those that were not just temporary fixes but are likely to continue in the industry. In addition, this session will review the common legal pitfalls that admissions and enrollment professionals should avoid as we prepare for a new enrollment season.
