In the increasingly complex world of charitable organizations, the use of fiscal sponsorships to accomplish charitable goals has become more prevalent. Fiscal sponsorship arrangements raise questions for both the entity attempting to promote a charitable project and donors asked to contribute to a program housed at a fiscal sponsor. This seminar will explore the rules for establishing and operating a fiscal sponsorship and will focus on some of the practical concerns that arise in operating a fiscal sponsorship, including employment and contractual issues. Speakers will include Bob Waldman, chair of Venable’s Business Division, who represents numerous charitable organizations, and Chuck Adkins, chief financial officer at the Fund for Educational Excellence, which serves as a fiscal sponsor. This program should be of interest to charitable organizations considering the use of a fiscal sponsor, foundations being asked to fund such programs, and individuals and companies considering the use of a fiscal sponsorship as an alternative to forming their own charitable organization.
Speakers:
Robert L. Waldman, Partner, Venable LLP
Chuck Adkins, CFO, Fund for Educational Excellence
