This event has already occurred.

Kelly DeMarchis Bastide and Venable counsel Harley Geiger presented the Lexology webinar “Borders for Bytes: New Limits on Data Transfers Outside the United States” on May 23, 2024.

Privacy and cybersecurity law experts Kelly Bastide and Harley Geiger hosted a webinar on the “Executive Order on Preventing Access to Americans’ Bulk Sensitive Personal Data and United States Government-Related Data by Countries of Concern” (EO 14117). The EO and its implementing regulations restrict U.S. businesses from transferring sensitive personal and government data to “countries of concern.” The proposed regulations would also impose new requirements to protect the data security as part of commercial agreements. This webinar provided an overview of these proposed rules and next steps, with a specific focus on the impact on businesses and how to prepare.
