Venable partner Ron Jacobs presented a webinar hosted by CESSE, “Assessing the First 100 Days and Beyond: What the Congress, the Courts, and the Executive Are Doing That Will Affect STEM Associations” on May 20.

With the new administration crossing the 100-day mark, much has changed in Washington. Ron Jacobs provided an update for CESSE members on the president’s agenda, congressional reaction to those efforts, and what the courts are doing. He discussed the stack of executive orders that have been signed that affect DEI programs, government grants and contracts, education, and more. He discussed where the courts have taken action to stop those efforts and where they have approved. He talked about the budget reconciliation process and what Congress is focused on. Ron also talked about some other important decisions by the Supreme Court related to the administrative process that could affect how associations and their members deal with the regulatory process. Finally, Ron covered some suggestions for navigating the new environment in Washington and what associations should be doing going forward.
