Tackling Food Insecurity

Throughout the country, millions of individuals and families face hunger every day. The Venable Foundation supports organizations on the front lines of expanding access to nutritious food, strengthening community food systems, and addressing the root causes of hunger. We're highlighting several grantee partners working across the country to ensure individuals and families have reliable access to the food they need to live healthy lives.

Spotlight: Moveable Feast

In 2025, the Venable Foundation gave $15,000 in grants to Moveable Feast, a Baltimore-based organization that has been working for nearly 40 years to support Marylanders who are living at the intersection of food insecurity and chronic illness.

Moveable Feast was originally founded in the late 1980s to serve those with HIV/AIDS by preparing medically tailored meals that address both nutritional and healthcare needs. Since then, the organization has expanded to serve individuals throughout Maryland with a range of chronic illnesses.

The Venable Foundation has provided funding for Moveable Feast since 2011. "We really consider ourselves so fortunate to have Venable in our corner because of your support for our home-delivered meal program," said Jeff Katz, director of community engagement and development. "We have seen that program grow in terms of both client numbers and meals over the past few years, thanks to the support of partners like Venable."

In 2025, Moveable Feast served over 427,000 home-delivered meals to 2,304 clients. "In the current landscape, where there's a lot of public funding instability, private support is more important than ever," Katz said. "To know that we have organizations like Venable that we can come to, year after year, is huge. We have a whole lot of gratitude that Venable is a partner of ours."
