Jason Rose is an experienced litigator who focuses on the efficient resolution of disputes in such areas as pharmaceutical and medical device litigation, business torts, and commercial contracts.
Mr. Rose offers Venable's clients unique business experience based on time he spent working in the international legal group of a leading, global heavy machinery manufacturer while living in Tokyo, Japan. In that capacity he counseled the company's business and legal departments on a variety of risk management issues related to large-scale international industrial projects and ventures. Before joining Venable, Mr. Rose also worked in a New York firm, where he represented a major air carrier in the 9/11 Commission investigation and related September 11 litigation arising out of the terrorist attacks in 2001.
With regard to pharmaceutical product liability litigation, Mr. Rose has represented a number of companies in different capacities ranging from case and budget management, to expert witness development, to briefing substantive and Daubert issues, to company story development, to fact and expert depositions, to trial support:
- Worked with a team of Venable lawyers as national counsel to a pharmaceutical manufacturer in nationwide litigation involving a drug for Parkinson’s disease.
- Helped lead a team of lawyers responsible for expert witness development, and a team of Venable lawyers responsible for dispositive and expert-related briefing and multiple trials, in nationwide litigation involving a diabetes drug.
- Managing a team of Venable lawyers as national counsel in nationwide litigation involving an anti-epileptic drug.
- Helping lead a team of lawyers responsible for expert witness development in an MDL and consolidated state court litigation involving a hypertension drug.
In commercial litigation, Mr. Rose has represented a large real estate investment trust in shareholder litigation over a merger, an insurer in coverage litigation involving a variety of underlying securities transaction, a telemarketing company in arbitration over a marketing services contract dispute, a software company in the confirmation and collection of an arbitration award, and the creditors of a bankrupt energy corporation in a suit over complex derivative transactions.
Mr. Rose is a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel and serves on the Board of Directors of the Community Law Center, a nonprofit law firm that offers legal services to community associations and small businesses to help improve the safety and economic viability of communities in the greater Baltimore area. He is also a member of the Leadership Advisory Council at Cristo Rey High School in Baltimore City.
