An Associate's Guide to the Practice of Copyright Law, by Venable attorneys Meaghan Hemmings Kent and Joshua Kaufman, was reviewed in the June 2010 edition of the Journal of Intellectual Property Law and Practice.

An Associate's Guide to the Practice of Copyright Law was published by Oxford University Press in 2009. The publication guides associates through what is typically the most challenging part of their job: knowing where to find information and what specifically they need to complete a particular task or assignment.

According to the reviewer, Kent and Kaufman "have succeeded in delivering a book that is a step up from a crib-note on copyright law and actually guides the reader through common practice situations. The concise and clearly presented style through which this is achieved will appeal to a wide readership. This could include any US lawyer lacking copyright expertise and seeking answers to simple queries as well as foreign practitioners needing to come to terms with an alien legal system."

The reviewer also highlighted the 'Copyright Basics' chapter as "useful for lawyers of any level of experience unfamiliar with copyright law," and pointed out the book's 'Practice Tip boxes' as "by far the most successful element to the book."
