J. Daniel Everson

Associate
Everson Daniel

J. Daniel Everson's practice focuses on helping clients navigate criminal and civil charges, government investigations, and agency enforcement actions. In his white collar defense practice, Daniel works on teams helping clients resolve investigations and litigation involving the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). With nearly five years at the DOJ, first as a student clerk as an undergraduate then as a full-time employee before law school, Daniel brings a government perspective to cases, helping the team and clients see the challenges ahead from the other side and bring about the best resolution possible.

Throughout his education, Daniel has been involved in simulated advocacy competitions at all levels, including competing on and coaching multiple top-ranked mock trial teams through the American Mock Trial Association (AMTA). Through competition, Daniel has spent more than 400 hours in the courtroom, trying fictional cases from across all areas of the law at both the trial and appellate levels, and polishing his oratory and writing skills. He brings that experience to Venable and to his clients.

During law school, Daniel also studied legal history through a selective dual-degree program and is a published author in the areas of constitutional and U.S. Supreme Court history. His insight into how law is formed and changes over time gives a leg up in a litigation climate where history increasingly weighs on judges' minds.
