Brett has substantial experience in construction disputes, having represented owners, condominium associations and developer/contractors in both state and federal court. Brett has also served as litigation counsel for a federal receiver.
In his career, he has prosecuted and defended complex commercial disputes including legal and accounting malpractice cases, general breach of contract disputes, business torts claims, securities fraud claims and complex construction disputes, including representing the Miami-Dade County School Board and Fisher Island Holdings, defending a $200 million claim by a bankrupt corporation involved in Ponzi scheme, and recovering $47.7 million from the Republic of Cuba on behalf of the family of a terrorist victim through the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act.
He is a member of the Dade County Bar Association and served as an adjunct professor at University of Miami School of Law teaching a course in Business Litigation Skills.
