John Hykes

John Hykes’ practice includes a variety of corporate law matters, including advising on real estate investment trusts (REITs), mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and securities laws issues. John has counseled clients on the formation and growth of new and early-stage companies. He has also guided clients through the sale of companies, analyzing contracts for due diligence, drafting closing checklists, and creating disclosure schedules.

Prior to joining Venable, John clerked for Chief Judge Henry W. Van Eck of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. John also worked at a Maryland-based law firm, where he drafted transactional documents for startups and advised financial institutions on regulatory changes and lending issues.
