Gilles Kepnang advises clients in all stages of patent prosecution and in the preparation of patent applications. With a background that includes more than a decade of experience as a U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) patent examiner, Gilles has a vast understanding of patent documentation processes, as well as a keen eye for addressing USPTO filing concerns. He provides innovation and technology solutions for clients in a range of fields, including artificial intelligence (AI), software engineering, healthcare technology, and information technology.

Before joining Venable, Gilles was a patent agent and patent scientist with an international law firm, where he collaborated with attorneys and USPTO examiners to establish valuable portfolios for his clients. He advised clients on patent prosecution while also reading over system overviews to ensure clients have state-of-the-art AI and blockchain solutions. Gilles has developed an AI solution and served as an AI engineering mentor in Microsoft Azure courses, where he supported students on the education platform in preparation for their tech careers. Gilles also has experience as a network engineer, where he supported the implementation of IT business applications, and as a software engineer, where he assisted in the design of software systems.
