Hemant has worked on U.S. and international patent prosecutions at boutique IP firms and companies developing life-sciences-related artificial intelligence (AI) and data analytics software. In addition to his work at Venable, Hemant serves as a mentor and advisor to fledgling businesses in the North Carolina startup ecosystem.
As a doctoral student at the University of Michigan, Hemant collaborated with government and industry partners in terpene/protein/carbohydrate chemistry research into potential cancer therapeutics. After earning his doctorate, Hemant spent four years conducting research for the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) before pivoting to a career in intellectual property.
