Stacy O’Mara

Senior Director for Cybersecurity Services

Stacy O’Mara is a results-oriented professional with more than 25 years of experience navigating the cybersecurity, homeland security, and defense industries. Stacy counsels clients on issues related to cybersecurity, incident response, and risk management policy. She is a meticulous and insightful advisor whom her clients know they can count on for creative solutions to their most pressing cybersecurity and national security challenges and needs. She is passionate about providing a unique advisory perspective that enables her clients to engage with governmental and non-governmental organizations in a meaningful and productive way.

Stacy frequently assists cybersecurity companies with shaping the cybersecurity policy environment and responding to cybersecurity incidents. She often helps them interface with crucial contacts in the White House and on Capitol Hill and with other vital stakeholders in the defense and national security communities. Her convening power allows Stacy and her clients to skillfully advocate for cybersecurity policies, funding, and partnership opportunities that often have massive impacts in the United States and beyond. In this vein, Stacy also tackles a range of important needs and processes that are most essential for key players in the cybersecurity space. This includes disclosure and incident reporting, cyber threat intelligence information sharing, cyber defense assistance, election security, AI, and, in many cases, international collaboration to take down cyber threat actors. Her functional skill set also encompasses strategic and crisis communications, policy and budget analysis, legislative and regulatory analysis, and program/contract management.

Her work has a distinctive focus on collaboration between entities in the private and public sectors. She is interested in what these models look like at their best, including what it means for private companies to work side by side with government agencies to thwart cyber-attacks, remediate and recover from them, and prevent them from happening in the first place. To bolster this cooperation, Stacy helps to drive strategic programming that brings the cybersecurity community together to engage in transformative conversations.

Stacy began her career as a congressional research analyst on Capitol Hill, and has since performed a variety of congressional, policy, and public relations functions for a number of federal government agencies, including the Defense and Homeland Security departments.

She also gained experience serving a company that provides expertise to the U.S. military as a legislative analyst. In this role, she frequently coordinated with senior defense committee staff and members of Congress to facilitate agency briefings. She was able to secure funding for several high-profile, multi-million-dollar acquisition programs.

Stacy also took on an associate position at a leading management and technology consulting firm, where she skillfully developed government affairs strategies, market forecasts, and outreach programs. She focused her work on a number of key industries, including cybersecurity, homeland security, defense, and veterans’ affairs. At the firm she developed her network, building close relationships with government services groups.

Stacy also worked as an analyst at an online news platform designed for professionals interested in the business impact of government actions. There, she covered the intersection of national security and the business community, producing briefings on appropriations, legislation, contract awards, and executive actions. In this role, Stacy honed her skill for translating complex issues into digestible deliverables.

She most recently gained experience at the helm of a global cybersecurity company, where she built and ran a government affairs program and oversaw cybersecurity delivery and operational capabilities for public sector and commercial partners and clients. She joined the company first as a director of government affairs, where she was tasked with building and managing their government affairs practice. In this role, her work focused on threat detection, incident response, and threat intelligence reporting. Stacy was also tasked with designing advocacy strategies and programs for federal funding and policy to directly support key business initiatives for the company. Her strategic advocacy efforts resulted in more than $40 million in revenue for the company’s U.S. public sector business. She was then elevated to the company’s head of Advanced Cybersecurity Solutions & Partnerships, where she worked with national defense, information technology, and cybersecurity commercial partners to develop and deliver joint security solutions to public sector clients.

Stacy’s subject-matter experience spans a broad range of cybersecurity issues. Her deep knowledge of the nuances within the cybersecurity field and keen knack for government affairs and policy analysis and implementation set her apart.
