Cogan Rooney

Associate

Cogan Rooney is a member of a team that assists clients facing complex commercial litigation issues. Before law school, Cogan worked first as a journalist covering law and policy in Washington, DC, and then in communications for a trade association. Cogan's experience producing sharp, insightful writing on tight deadlines provided a strong foundation for her legal practice. She excels in conducting in-depth research, translating dense legal issues into digestible narratives, and investigating facts to help her team solve clients' intricate legal problems.

In law school, Cogan was involved with the Maryland Law Review and the Moot Court Board. She supplemented her academic work with real-world experiences, interning for a federal district judge and the federal public defender for the District of Maryland. Before joining Venable, she clerked for the chief justice of the Supreme Court of Maryland, where she honed her writing and research skills and gained valuable insights into appellate practice.
