David Smith assists clients with a wide range of government contracts issues, including bid protests, False Claims Act (FCA) disputes, compliance counseling, transactions, and investigations. David has worked extensively assisting clients with compliance with existing procurement regulations and ensuring clients understand key components of federal regulatory law.

Prior to joining Venable, David was a law clerk at Strategic Tax Planning. During law school, he worked as a research assistant on the Annual Review of Criminal Procedure and as a law clerk at the U.S. Department of Transportation's (DOT) Office of Inspector General (OIG).
