Stephen Schiermeyer

Stephen Schiermeyer advises clients on matters related to tax, tax-exempt organizations, and private wealth planning. Stephen regularly assists clients seeking to form new nonprofit organizations and obtain recognition of tax-exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). These new organizations include grantmakers, private operating foundations, museums, scholarship programs, and many others.

Stephen assists clients with preparing all forms of estate planning documents, such as wills, trust agreements, durable financial powers of attorney, and advance directives. Stephen also assists with the preparation of estate and gift tax returns.

Prior to joining Venable, Stephen worked for the IRS, Office of Chief Counsel, where he drafted memoranda and other legal documents for the exempt organizations unit.
