Sarah Louise Scott

Counsel
Scott Sarah

Sarah Louise Scott is a litigator who focuses on product liability and mass tort litigation, often involving pharmaceutical products. Sarah has substantive experience in state and federal courts, and in arbitration, managing and coordinating discovery, preparing company witnesses and experts to testify, procuring experts, drafting pre- and post-trial motions, and negotiating discovery disputes.

Prior to joining Venable, Sarah was an associate at a boutique litigation firm, where her practice focused on medical malpractice and product liability defense, and insurance litigation. During this time, she deposed fact witnesses and experts, and successfully argued to limit a motion to compel discovery, in an inverse condemnation case.

Before law school, Sarah taught and wrote on philosophy, particularly the philosophy of science, at several academic institutions. In this capacity, she explained the concepts behind, and significance of, certain scientific theories and practices.

As a member of Venable's Product Liability and Mass Torts Practice Group, Sarah represents companies in complex litigation, including:

  • Playing an integral role in the expert development team in nationwide litigation involving an adult vaccine, from identifying experts through all aspects of litigation, in areas such as neurology, virology, immunology, radiology, ophthalmology, and other medical and scientific specialties
  • Drafting pretrial and dispositive motions as part of a nationwide litigation involving an adult vaccine
  • Assisting with management, company story development, and discovery on a team in an MDL and in two consolidated state court litigations involving an adult vaccine

Sarah earned her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 2014. She also holds a Ph.D. and an M.A. in philosophy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a B.A. from St. John's College in Annapolis.
