On October 23, 2015, the National Law Journal featured a story on Venable's representation of unidentified businesses in the consumer credit counseling market in a suit against the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). Last week a federal judge issued a ruling in the case over whether an attorney representing one of the businesses could attend a consumer board investigative hearing. As part of the ruling, the judge opted to keep the names of the businesses suing the CFPB confidential helping reduce their public exposure during the ongoing investigation.
