Venable Promotes Four To Partner

WASHINGTON, DC (January 2, 2003) – Venable announces the addition of four attorneys to partnership status: Fei-Fei Chao, Ph.D., Michael B. MacWilliams, Michael A. Sartori, Ph.D., and Jeffrey S. Tenenbaum.

Fei-Fei Chao, Ph.D. has a broad intellectual property practice covering both patent and trademark prosecution and intellectual property litigation. In patent prosecution, Dr. Chao focuses on bioscience, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and natural products. Dr. Chao is well known for her successful representation of clients in the field of traditional Chinese herbal medicines. Dr. Chao represents clients in trade secret and patent infringement litigation in various courts and recently litigated two high-profile generic drug cases. She also assists clients with domestic and international licensing, technology transfer and franchising. Dr. Chao received her B.S. and M.S. from National Chung-Hsing University in Taiwan, her Ph.D. from the University of Oklahoma, and her J.D. from the University of Maryland.

Michael B. MacWilliams is a commercial and intellectual property litigator whose practice includes copyright infringement, trademark disputes, patent infringement, trade secret matters and related business torts, securities disputes, landlord-tenant disputes and general contractual issues. He also represents manufacturers in products liability matters and property owners in premises liability litigation. Mr. MacWilliams received his B.S.M.E. from Virginia Tech and his J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law.

Michael A. Sartori, Ph.D. focuses his intellectual property practice on complex electrical engineering matters. He prepares and prosecutes domestic and foreign patent applications, counsels clients in establishing and licensing patent portfolios, provides validity and infringement opinions, and participates in patent litigation. Dr. Sartori is a former Patent Examiner with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and has received several patents for his own inventions. He concentrates in the technical areas of signal and image processing, telecommunications, control systems, software, computers, the Internet, e-commerce, and artificial intelligence. Dr. Sartori received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame and his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.

Jeffrey S. Tenenbaum, a nationally recognized attorney in the association community, concentrates his practice exclusively on providing legal counseling to and advocacy for trade and professional associations and other nonprofit organizations. He has extensive experience with all of the major legal issues affecting associations and is a frequent lecturer and author on association legal topics for the leading industry organizations and publications. Mr. Tenenbaum is the author of the bookAssociation Tax Compliance Guide, published by the American Society of Association Executives, and is an active volunteer participant in the association community. He serves as general counsel to the Greater Washington Society of Association Executives and numerous other associations nationwide. Mr. Tenenbaum received his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and his J.D. from the Catholic University School of Law.
