Venable LLP Partner Chuck Morton Named President of the Association for Corporate Growth, Maryland Chapter

Venable LLP is pleased to announce that partner Charles "Chuck" J. Morton, Jr. has been named president of the Association for Corporate Growth’s (ACG) Maryland chapter. The ACG is the premier global association for professionals involved in corporate growth, corporate development, and mergers and acquisitions for mid to large companies.

Mr. Morton, who served as ACG Maryland president-elect for two years under president Jason Jones, will serve a two-year term as chapter president. The 160-member Maryland chapter is one of the fastest growing ACG chapters in the country. The ACG stands at more than 9,000 total members, representing Fortune 500, Fortune 1000, FTSE 100, and mid-market companies in 48 chapters in North America, Europe and soon,  Asia.

"I'm excited about leading and growing the Maryland Chapter of ACG and look forward to fine tuning chapter programs such as ACG's ‘Deal of the Year,’ which had its debut last year, and embarking on new projects that will better serve our local chapter and its members."

At Venable, Mr. Morton’s practice focuses on areas of corporate law, financing, mergers and acquisitions and technology transfers. He brings a unique combination of transactional and litigation experience while serving as outside general counsel to some of the regions most dynamic enterprises.

In addition to his work at Venable, Mr. Morton serves as a business professorat Johns Hopkins University and on the Advisory Board of the Small Business Development Centers of Maryland. He is a member of the American Bar Association, for which he served as Chair of its Intellectual Property Committee of the Torts and Insurance Practice Section. Mr. Morton is also active in the Bar Association of Baltimore City, where he chaired the Technology Committee and the Partnership in Education Committee.

Recently, he was recognized as "one of the best lawyers in Baltimore when it comes to advising entrepreneurial firms" by the Baltimore Business Journal. He was the first chair of a business plan competition for the Greater Baltimore Technology Council called Mosh Pit, for which he earned an "Innovator of the Year" award from the Daily Record. Mr. Morton was also recognized by the Baltimore Business Journal as one of "40 Under 40."
