Venable ranked 19th among Washington, DC’s largest law firms in the National Law Journal’s DC 25 list, which was featured in the May 11, 2009 edition of the publication.
In general, firms with a strong presence in Washington fared better than Am Law 100 firms as a whole even though eight firms on the DC 25 list saw revenues drop. In Washington, profits were flat while the overall Am Law 100 saw a 4.3 percent decline in revenues. Another common metric, revenue per lawyer, was up 2.6 percent in Washington, while dropping 1.2 percent nationwide.
Venable tracked closely with the overall trends in the DC market. The firm held the same ranking as in 2008, posting a five percent increase in Washington-area revenues.
