2 min

The Response, a film written and produced by Venable attorney Sig Libowitz, will be screened on Wednesday, October 28th at 5:30 pm at WilmerHale's Boston office (60 State Street). The event is sponsored by the Massachusetts Appleseed Center For Law & Justice.

Mr. Libowitz and Peter Riegert (Animal House, The Sopranos), one of the stars of the film, will be in attendance and both will participate in a post-screening panel. Also participating on the panel are Mark C. Fleming and Robert C. Kirsch, WilmerHale partners serving as Counsel of Record to Guantanamo detainees. Victor Hansen, an associate professor at Boston's New England Law, will moderate the discussion.

The Response, which received the 2009 ABA Silver Gavel Award in the Drama & Literature category, was executive produced by Venable in association with The University of Maryland School of Law, and is a courtroom drama based, in part, on declassified transcripts of the Combatant Status Review Tribunals (CSRTs) held on Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The film also stars Kate Mulgrew (Captain Janeway of Star Trek: Voyager) and Aasif Mandvi (The Daily Show with Jon Stewart).

An RSVP is required to gain access to the event location and guests will be asked to present a photo ID. There is a suggested $25 donation for the screening and light refreshments will be provided.
