Dismas Locaria and Paul Debolt prevail in DC pro bono case

Venable attorneys Dismas Locaria and Paul Debolt received a judgment of more than $12,000 on behalf of a pro bono client in a landlord/tenant matter heard by the DC Office of Administrative Hearings.

For more than three years, the Venable client paid her agreed upon rent in a timely fashion, yet the property owner failed to maintain the habitability of the apartment building and rental unit she shared with her family. The property owner failed to address hazardous levels of lead dust, pervasive rodent problems, structural and security issues and insufficient heating.

Locaria and Debolt's brief and oral arguments were so compelling that on many of the individual counts the administrative law judge trebled the damages against the property owner.
