On May 13, 2011 Venable partner Bart Stupak spoke at the commencement ceremony at Gogebic Community College in Ironwood, Michigan. Stupak's speech focused on his life after politics and being able to adapt to personal and professional challenges.
During his speech, Stupak told the graduates, "You may not agree with my position, or my goal of providing quality, affordable health care for all Americans without public funding for abortion, but these two principles, that I firmly believe in, were on a collision course. The health care debate put tremendous pressure on me personally and professionally."
